Finding your trigger points
Learn to locate and release muscle knots with simple tools at home
Welcome — I’m Catharina Kiaha, Massage therapist, Bodyworker and Wellness Coach of almost three decades. This space was created as an extension of my handson treatments to help you understand your body better, release muscle tension, and rediscover natural, pain-free movement. Through self-care education, practical techniques, and guided videos, you’ll learn to take charge of your own healing journey — right from the comfort of your home.
Tight muscles, tender points and trigger points can limit your movement and cause pain in muscles and joints, restricting functional movement. Here, you’ll find professional insights and simple at-home techniques to locate and release muscle knots, improve posture, and restore flexibility.
Welcome to your wellness learning library — a growing collection of educational articles and resources designed to help you unwind your body and mind. Each post is written to give you clear, actionable knowledge about how your body works and how to care for it — through movement, awareness, and regular self-care.
Choose the area of wellness that fits your current needs. Each section offers a learning path with blog posts and, soon, video demonstrations.
Learn how trigger points form, why they cause referred pain, and how to release them safely using simple at-home tools like massage balls, a Theracane, or foam roller. Each article includes anatomy illustrations, practical guidance, and links to short tutorial videos.
These lessons focus on stretching, flexibility, and postural awareness. Whether you’re new to stretching or relearning after painful episodes or injuries, you’ll find gentle routines to improve posture, reduce tightness, and enhance recovery.
This category is a bucket for all things wellness, nutrition and strengthening exercises to restore and rebalance a worn out body. It represents a kaleidoscope of topics that have come up with my clients over the years and hopefully will be helpful to you as you navigate your healing journey.
I began my career in massage therapy and bodywork 28 years ago, helping my
clients find relief from chronic muscle and joint pain, stiffness, and limited movement. My clients learned that lasting change happens when they learn and practice how to care for their own bodies consistently at home — not just receive treatment.
I focus on teaching my clients how to manage unhealthy, painful tension, and restore functional movement through simple, science-based self-care techniques, and strengthening exercises.
Whether you’ve been dealing with long-standing pain or simply want to feel better in your own body, I created this space to help guide you — step by step — just like my clients – toward less muscle and joint pain, improved range of motion and posture, and improved muscle strength.
Kiaha Myotherapy & Wellness Coaching was born from a desire to empower you and make healing bodywork accessible to everyone who wishes to be proactive in their healing journey.
This site is a learning hub — a place where you can explore articles, tutorials, and soon, video lessons that show you how to release tension, improve posture, and reconnect with your body’s natural rhythm.
You don’t need special equipment or experience — just curiosity, a willingness to learn and explore, consistency, and compassion for yourself.
My approach combines the understanding of trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and the art of relaxation with the mindfulness towards healthier lifestyle habits, including nutrition, sleep and strength training fueled by the realization it is never too late to learn how we can take better care of ourselves. Each lesson or video integrates three guiding principles:
Learn how tension patterns form and how to recognize them.
Use gentle, guide techniques to ease muscles and joints.
Support recovery with movement, breath, and mindful awareness.
When these elements come together, you begin to feel better, move better, feel calmer, and live with more energy.

Catharina has been very attentive in addressing my health issues and serving my needs. She has isolated each area of pain that I have had and not only treated me in her office, but she has also sent home exercises which have helped me progress faster to healing. She is extremely perceptive and has been very patient with me. Her perception in resolving my health issues has been incredible, I am thankful to have found Catharina as she has certainly improved my health and quality of life.
Working with Catharina has been life-changing for me. After back surgery that left me with foot drop, her Myotherapy sessions have helped me move with less pain, greater flexibility, and much more confidence. Her intuitive approach and careful techniques always leave me feeling balanced and grounded, She’s incredibly skilled, compassionate, and genuinely invested in my progress - I can’t recommend her enough.
Catharina is a true professional in her work! I have benefited from her massage therapy as well as from her knowledge of helpful supplements and stretches for my needs. Her massage treatments are far better than my past experiences. She listens to what I say and then immediately finds my areas of need. Additionally, Catharina is continually studying and learning new techniques that are beneficial in helping her clients. I am beyond grateful for her!
I have been seeing Catharina for massage and myofascial release for several years. She is an amazing therapist! I think she knows every muscle, tendon, and ligament in the body and how it should move. She can tell if it’s too tight or too loose. She can tell by looking at you where she needs to work. She releases the tightness with massage and gives suggestions on how you can help relieve pain or improve strength at home. She has recommended great, inexpensive, equipment and gadgets to use at home and explains how to use the tools to help speed recovery and to keep yourself physically fit. One time she even recommended using a rolling pin at home to help release tightness in the hip flexor muscles…Great release!. Catharina is a “walking encyclopedia” of healthful living. She is so passionate about helping people stay strong and fit. She has so much knowledge about exercise and food and can recommend herbs, vitamins and supplements for anything from pain relief to muscle health. Catharina is phenomenal!
I have been a client of Catharina for over 25 years and in that time I have come to deeply appreciate her genuine passion and dedication to the wellness of her clients. As a dentist with occupational musculoskeletal issues, Catharina's skills as a massage therapist has had a huge impact on my wellbeing. What I love most is that she doesn't stop at massage - she's constantly learning and brings so much knowledge into a thoughtful holistic approach - combining massage, nutrition, supplements, stress management and exercise. Thanks to Catharina, I move better, feel better and live better. She's truly one of a kind.
It is my great pleasure to recommend Catharina, an exceptionally skilled and compassionate deep tissue massage therapist. Over the time I have been her client, Catharina has consistently demonstrated a combination of professionalism, technical expertise, and genuine care for her clients’ wellbeing. Her deep understanding of anatomy and muscle function allows her to tailor each session to address specific concerns, and her skill set ensures lasting relief and improved mobility. 20-some odd years ago, a friend of mine noticed I was having neck pain issues and recommended Cat, that she could fix me up. I was more than a skeptic at the time, not knowing much about the science of deep tissue therapy but man, am I glad I listened! Every visit with Catharina leaves me feeling both physically restored and deeply relaxed. No more pain in the neck! She's also improved my knowledge of how to help myself. Who knew that using a baseball or softball against a wall could actually keep me stretched out in key areas in between visits? Beyond her always evolving skill set, Catharina brings a warm, friendly presence that makes each session a truly restorative experience. She listens attentively, communicates clearly, and creates a comfortable environment. Her German, by the way, is also outstanding, added bonus! I wholeheartedly recommend Catharina to anyone seeking an exceptional massage therapist who blends deep technical mastery with a sincere commitment to her clients’ health and wellness. Sincerely,
There is a reason that I covet my bi-weekly appointments with Catharina - there is no else like her! She has mastered her massage skills and continually invests in learning and improving her skills. She is so knowledgeable about the body and how to help me find relief and a cure from my symptoms. And her knowledge goes far beyond the massage - she has researched so many healthy alternatives from supplements to exercises. Most of all, she is a beautiful, kind person who is happy to listen, chat, or let you snore, and always respects her client's privacy. I do not hesitate to recommend her to anyone and can say with confidence that she is worth every second and penny!
